This three-week training is designed for caregivers who assist family members or friends with Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s Disease. The course is free, and registration is required. The course will increase skills and knowledge for caregiving, understand the diseases that cause dementia, gain confidence to effectively address dementia behaviors, learn ways to increase family involvement, and reduce the impacts of caregiving.
Expressive Arts The use of art as an activity provides an outlet for individual expression. It meets the person where their individual ability presents. Music, movement, lyrics, storytelling, drawing, stamp-printing, clay modeling, and painting all lend themselves to enhancing verbal and nonverbal communication and recognition in a safe environment. It offers a release and an avenue to express feelings and moods by providing companionship with the therapist and their peers. Expressive Arts is a fun, relaxing experience for people living with dementia to be creative and enhance brain functions and social interaction, which leads to feeling confident.
Training dates: Jan. 30, Feb. 6 and 13
